Lleyton Hewitt v Gael Monfils – Wimbledon
June 24, 2010 ás 22:55
Pick: Lleyton Hewitt @ 1.40 in Betfair / Result:
This is the first test of fire for the Australian Lleyton Hewitt. Gael Monfils is his opponent in the third round of this Grand Slam.
Well Gael Monfils was never good to play on grass and never will be despite having a positive record of 12 wins and 10 losses at ATP. The Frenchman plays very little on this floor and has no success.
Lleyton Hewitt is a sublime player on this floor, Hewitt has a fairly complete game and his record speak for themselves.
I expect a balanced game in the first set but the other two there will be no great story. Monfils has raced a little and played only three games on turf this season. In London Queens of the tournament lost to veteran Rainer Schuettler. Here at Wimbledon Monfils easily defeated Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer but yielded a set against Karol Beck.
The Australian is doing an excellent season in this area, won the tournament in Halle where he defeated Federer in the final. Here at Wimbledon Hewitt has not given chances, he gave a set to Maximo Gonzalez, but against Korolev Hewitt raised his level of tennis and easily defeated the Kazakhstanis the latter gave up the third set.
In direct confrontations Monfils takes the best and leads 2-1. None of the three games was played on this surface.
This odd for Hewitt is a truly absurd, 1.40? Is too good to me. Hewitt is a very good player on this floor and there are those who win. Monfils has not been well presented and has been very unstable so I think the odds of Hewitt a genuine offer. I will also bet on the Australian to win the game in just three sets.
