Man United vs West Brom – Premier League 

Game of the 8th round of the Premier League where the Manchester United, 3rd placed of the League will receive in Old Trafford the 6th placed of the league the team of West Bromwich.

Manchester United

Manchester United goes for this game trying to reduce the distance to the leader Chelsea that will play two hours after United and they will also try to recover the 2nd place to Manchester City that only plays Sunday against Blackpool. A positive point in this beginning of season for United is that they didn’t lose any game, even with Rooney out of shape.

United is in third place after a 0 – 0 draw against Suderland, the team has felt lot of trouble especialy playing away from home, however in Old Trafford the team won the three games with 9 goals scored and 2 suffered against Liverpool, this means that the team has been very well at home where they have to take the lead in the game, something that the team of Ferguson likes to do. In 4 games at home they didn’t suffer goals in 3.

The return of Rio Ferdinand on the defense to play with Vidic has been a very positive point to the defense and with this two playing it’s very hard to score goals to United.

The big new in the home team is the return to the list of Owen Hargreaves after a serious injury that stops him to play for almost two years. It’s not probable that he plays from the beginning but he will be in the bench. Wayne Rooney that miss the last two games played against Montenegro and will be available for this game, while Ryan Giggs is injured.

West Bromwich

The team of West Bromwich is in a surprising 6th place in Premier League, and the most surprising is that they were crushed in the first round by Chelsea with a 0 – 6 defeat. The hiring of the striker Peter Odemwingie seems to have a big resposibility in the good performance of the team and he already scored three games in the championship.

A lot of the success of the team is based in the home record where they are unbeatable with 8 points in 12. In the beginning the team was supose to have a very hard season and the major favourite to be relegated, however they made an outstanding come back and they won 3 – 2 in Emirates against Arsenal. Away from home they have 1 victorie and 2 losses with 3 goals scored and 10 suffered.

In the last games the team only lost one, won 5 and draw one in the last game against Bolton. Marek Cech wll not be available because of an injyury while Jerome Thomas and Peter Odemwingie are in doubt but they should play.

Manchester United know the importance of winning the home games, since they already lost 8 point away frome home, and is always difficult to predict how a team plays after a stop for international matches, especialy in a team that had so many players in action in their countrys. But with the players returning one day earlier that the preview Alex Ferguson should have time to prepare the team to this home game where they are very strong with 47 goals scored in the last 17 home games.

I am sure that West Bromwich will come motivated for this game and will try to repeat the tactic from the Emirates, this means, a good counter attack because Di Matteo knows that they can’t play the game for the game or they will lose for many.

Only one time in this season United scored less than 3 goals and so I think that this game won’t escape to United and the perspective of reducing their difference to Chelsea is another factor that will motivate the team. I think that they can win this game by a good margin because Manchester United is a better team and has better players despite the good moment of West Bromwich.
